    Call for Speakers!

    Louisiana SHRM is accepting proposals from Speakers who wish to present at our 2019 Diversity & Inclusion Summit, Friday, February 8, 2019 in New Orleans.  The deadline for submissions is Friday, December 7, 2018.

    About Louisiana SHRM

    The Louisiana SHRM State Council represents human resource professionals in the State of Louisiana and is supported through the national Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Founded in 1948, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world’s largest HR membership organization devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 300,000 members in over 165 countries, the Society is the leading provider of resources to serve the needs of HR professionals and advance the professional practice of human resource management. SHRM has more than 575 affiliated chapters within the United States and subsidiary offices in China, India and United Arab Emirates.

    Louisiana has 9 local SHRM chapters across the state, each that provide Human Resources programming and networking opportunities in their local area. In addition, there are ten student chapters which connect college students in the state to SHRM.

    Who will attend the Conference?

    The Louisiana SHRM Diversity & Inclusion Summit will bring together business leaders, human resource professionals, diversity practitioners, legal professionals and community leaders from across the state of Louisiana.

    Speaker Selection Guidelines

    When developing the summit curriculum, our goal is to provide a balanced program that covers multiple areas of diversity to include, but not limited to, race, gender, disability, religion, socioeconomic background, culture, sexual orientation, etc... The focus of this event and its curriculum is on moving the discussion forward and share ideas on how businesses can improve diversity & inclusion in organizations.  Presentations should NOT focus on compliance issues.   Presentations are reviewed by the Speaker Committee and are evaluated based on proposed topic, relevance, overall quality of content and its relavance to diversity & inclusion, the HR profession, originality, and educational value, as well as Presenter’s professional speaking skills and references.  It is Louisiana SHRM's intent to submit all presentations to the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) and to the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to achieve strategic or general credit for the benefit of attendees. Louisiana SHRM will work with all Speakers to obtain the necessary information to submit presentations for credit.

    Speakers chosen will be notified by email no later than December 14th.

    We expect presenters:

    • To work closely with summit organizers before the summit and meet all deadlines;
    • To make no substantial changes in content, format, audio/visual needs, room set-up, identity or number of presenters without prior approval of summit organizers.
    • To design and provide high-quality presentations, in electronic format, by the deadline given; and
    • To recognize that a summit presentation is an opportunity to share information and is not a showcase for promotion of business, practice, service or products.

    Click here to submit your proposal. We sincerely thank you for your interest.
