    Call for Speakers!

Louisiana SHRM (LASHRM) is currently accepting proposals from Speakers who wish to present at 2019 Annual Louisiana Conference on Human Resource April 10th & 11th in Baton Rouge, LA.  The deadline for submissions is Friday, November 2, 2018.

    About Louisiana SHRM

Louisiana SHRM (LASHRM) is a not-for-profit association which represents human resource professionals in the state of Louisiana and is supported through the national Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Louisiana has 9 local SHRM chapters across the state, each providing Human Resources programming and networking opportunities in their local area. In addition, there are ten student chapters which connect college students in the state to SHRM. Through our annual State Conference on Human Resources, we develop professionals and provide opportunities to contribute to each other, our organizations, and our communities. We are proud to support over 2,000 human resource professionals in the state.

    Who will attend the Conference?

More than 325 Human Resource Professionals attended the 2018 Annual Conference.  In addition to Conference attendees, 113 vendor representatives were in attendance. Speakers were promoted on the Conference website as well as all Chapter functions, newsletters, blogs, and social media.

    Speaker Selection Guidelines

When developing the conference curriculum, our goal is to provide a balanced program that meets the variety of skill levels and interest levels of the conference audience, presented by speakers of the highest quality who represent the diversity of our membership. Presentations are reviewed by the Speaker Committee and are evaluated based on proposed topic, relevance, and overall quality of content and relatedness to the HR profession, originality, and educational value, as well as Presenter’s professional speaking skills and references.  It is LASHRM’s intent to submit all presentations to the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) to achieve strategic or general credit for the benefit of attendees. LASHRM will work with all Speakers to obtain the necessary information to submit presentations for credit.

Topics that are of great interest to our organization include:  Strategic Management, Workforce Planning and Employment, Human Resource Development, Employee and Labor Relations, Organizational Development, Leadership, Diversity, Workforce Readiness, Business Acumen, Legal, Risk Management, and Ethics. Our attendees appreciate case studies and real world examples, with practical tools and take-aways that they can apply in their everyday work.

Speakers chosen will be notified by email no later than December 15, 2018.

Expectations and Our Commitment to You

LASHRM has a tradition of using educational conference sessions as a platform for innovation in the field of human resource management. We look for contributors who are willing to share their expertise without expectation of payment in the spirit of networking, a purpose for which SHRM was founded.
    We expect presenters:

    • To work closely with conference organizers before the conference and meet all deadlines;
    • To make no substantial changes in content, format, audio/visual needs, room set-up, identity or number of presenters without prior approval of conference organizers.
    • To design and provide high-quality presentations, in electronic format, by the deadline given; and
    • To recognize that a conference presentation is an opportunity to share information and is not a showcase for promotion of business, practice, service or products.

    In return, LASHRM will:

    • Provide you with your session survey feedback after the conference upon request.
    • Provide you with accommodations for up to two nights at the conference hotel.
    • Reimburse travel related expenses not to exceed $500 (e.g., coach-fare air transportation, meals, and cab fare). Please note that reimbursements are not paid to co-presenters.
    • Provide a complimentary registration for the conference, including admission to the exhibit hall, educational programs, and social events.
    • Grant you valuable professional exposure.
